Hong Kong cancels its Chinese New Year firework display to mourn victims of a deadly bus crash.
19 passengers died and more than 60 others were injured when a double-decker bus overturned on Saturday, February 10th,and as of this recording, six of the injured passengers are still in critical condition.
The firework display was scheduled to go off this coming Saturday which will be the seventh day after the accident.
According to Chinese tradition the spirit of a dead person returns home for a final farewell to loved ones on the seventh day.
Out of respect for such traditions, the government called the event off.
The government also plans to fly the Hong Kong and national flags at half-staff at its headquarters on Tuesday.
Local authorities charged the bus driver with causing death by dangerous driving and said the investigation is ongoing.
